Silver iodide (AgI) is a DNA repair tool, so no need to keep those apart. Even in simple form it will trap massive amounts of radiation and neutralize it. A more complex form is used in Reactors as a net to catch leaks.

Just make sure you eat some organic worm fed chicken yolks so the AgI (possible holding lots of radiation) doesn't stay in tissue too long.
