Re: Edema
I just read through all of the responses and you are getting some good support.
Im a guy and I dont have anorexia, so its hard for me to relate. I workout a ton to keep in shape and look my best. Have you tried that route? Crossfit is a great way to stay in shape and meet a lot of active people.
A healthier way to eat and stay really trim is eating paleo. Checkout paleoplan.com. They have great recipes. I personally eat paleo and it has definitely trimmed me up.
There is a lot of research that shows restricting calories is really good for you health. But restricting them everyday as you are doing can cause issued like the ones you are experiencing. A better way to restrict calories is only do it on certain days of the week. Like once a week. But really restrict them that one day.
If you do or do not start eating paleo, you could try intermittent fasting. Now before you try this and before I give this advice, I think you need to make sure you do not do this more than once a week. I dont want to make your eating disorder worse. But try not eating from dinner one night until dinner the next day. The days you are not fasting you need to be getting more calories though. 1000-1500 calories per day is what your body needs on a daily basis. I know this is way more than you are currently eating, so maybe just try adding a few hundred calories. Definitely do NOT try fasting until you have bumped up your calories a little. I just recommend it because it can be very healthy when used correctly.
Now, for your edema that you are currently experiencing. Here is what is most likely going on. You have probably created an electrolyte imbalance in your body. You need to take a supplement with potassium and magnesium (the other electorlytes) to balance this. Then you need to take a natural diurectic that doesn't deplete potassium (also called a potassium sparing diuretic). I recommend this supplement to reduce swelling.
From a guys perspective, I really think an athletic girl is much sexier than a really skinny girl. Honestly. Its ok to gain a little weight, you will be MORE attractive to most guys.
I hope this helps and I would like to say some prayers for you. Just let me know your name and I will pray for you.
