I wasn't getting onto the topic of where radioactive materials come from, but that dealing with them "cheaply" often involves cost cutting measures that are detrimental to the environment - yet saving millions of $$$.

We DO concentrate radiation however and create conditions that have much more potential to kill life.

The path from dangerous to benign is where problems tend to occur such as improper disposal or accidents proposed in your concluding statement.
