Yes being a vegetarian is not easy. I have started eating a little bit of fish and poultry recently after a bout with malaria, otherwise I do prefer a vegetarian diet and I would like to go back to that eventually, but my main goal is to get everything into balance. I like to meditate and it is only possible to meditate when your body is balanced. I am not an expert on ayurveda but I was able to speak with many ayurvedic doctors in India and get a very good feel for the underlying principles. When vata gets elevated generally you will feel more anxious, vata people have energy but it is nervous energy and they will tend to get energy at the wrong times and have insomnia. For a while you can feel great with elevated vata because you have so much energy and feel like you can keep going and going but after some time you will become completely wiped out and exhausted. People with elevated vata should eat more stabilizing foods like milk, rice, beans and should eat less raw food but I think fruit is still good. After having elevated vata for some time, once it is stabilized with more earth energy, strength and energy will come back up but this will take some time and yes you will feel tired for quite some time but it will be a good healthy tired not a burnt out tired. Get plenty of rest and let your body recover from what it has been put through while not receiving proper nutrition. Keep giving nourishing foods to the body and it will become stronger and eventually you will have more energy but it will be a stable energy and you will also be able to sleep like a baby.
