Any in depth studies on fasting?
Has anyone found any before and after blood work published for individuals who have completed an extended fast? Or even urinalysis? I've been searching for something like that in the public domain and haven't had any luck.
Day 0 for my fast will be this upcoming Monday, my baseline blood work will be on the following Tuesday, about 12 hours in. I'm scheduling blood work on completion as well, and then after about 30 days of refeeding.
Beginning tomorrow, I will be tracking 24 different metrics from home and will continue until after refeeding. What I would like to create is a representation of what happens when you eat the Standard American Diet, followed by an extended fast, followed by refeeding.
Here is a list of the items I'm documenting:
Weight, Basal body temperature, Basal capillary blood glucose, Basal oximeter reading, daily pulse/blood pressure, first void urinary tests (leukocytes,
nitrites , urobilinogen, protein, pH, blood, specific gravity, ketones, bilirubin, glucose), urine volume, fluid intake, body fat (caliper method), and 4 different body measurements. I will also journal symptoms and have my wife assist me with photographs.
I've fasted several times in the past, longest being about 21 days, so I'm comfortable with extended fasts. I have a severe autoimmune disorder (I'm almost completely disabled, but it responds to diet) and have a food addiction that only exacerbates my condition.
Can anybody think of any other information I can collect that would be useful? I don't mind being a lab rat, I've seen that fasting works, I just want to see how my body changes during the process - and it'll keep my mind occupied and focused on my goal.
Thanks all.
