Re: Major digestive problems and trying P&B shakes

It is not strange that getting most of your calories from animal protein will make your symptoms worse. Many, many people have the same reaction and I really can't understand how this diet has come to be regarded as a healthy diet. If anything this diet is only tolerated by people that already have some measure of health or people who are culturally evolved for this type of diet or have a certain body type that will thrive on this diet, but this will be the minority, not the majority that do well on a diet of animal protein and vegetables.

In my experience P&B shakes were somewhat helpful but they should only be taken while you are taking some natural herbal supplements to stimulate the bowels to move. Taking psyllium husk without something to help move the bowels will just bloat you up and cause irritation.

Depending on your weight, you may want to try a raw food diet for a month or so. If you are a healthy weight or over-weight you may feel very good on this diet and it could help with the joint pain. Be careful with raw food diets if you are underweight but you can do it for short periods as a cleanse. Eat tons of fresh fruit (if you do well on them) and vegetables, juicing these is great as well. Be careful of fruit as for some people it can increase joint pain but this will vary from person to person. You will probably need a digestive aid while following this type of diet.

In my experience, whole grains are some of the best foods for correcting digestive problems but you may be different you just have to see what works.
