If "forever and ever" doesn't actually mean exactly what it says, but rather a finite period of time, then believers who are saved will not experience eternal life either.

Many passages that talk of eternal damnation also mention eternal life as a contrast.

I reject annihilationism mainly for this reason. Death cannot come to the believers who overcome and are raised to life eternal.
