Re: SPORES TO BE USED IN MY HOMEMADE COMPOST??? from Homemade Kombucha...

Hi Chiron,

Thanks for answering my compost question! :)
I hate to waste it too. I tried to eat it, as you did, but could not chew it - it is very though. I used some as compress over my knee - I liked the effect. ... the skin has the vinegary smell after. Nice to learn I can keep a Scooby in my fridge, if needed. It is not such a big deal if a "loose" a Scooby though, since it turned out to be quite easy to grow. The initial stage to grow a Scooby from dregs took about 2 weeks, in the mean while I drank a strong drink a time or two, then I put more tea and honey in the remaining liquid.

... Dregs ... Good to learn the proper term.
With a 1/2 to 1 tsp of honey for 1/2 liter of overnight room temperature steep of pinch white tea, I get a drink every second day from the Scoobies! Which was my goal, at least for know, I want to get in these glucuronic acid and hyaluronic acid. I use it topically on my skin too ... before starting I watched a video on Youtube of Dr Cassar brewing it. Since he did not mentioned cheese cloth, I did not use so far and was fine with loosely fitting lid on the container. But got a knew plant ... and flies with it, so I had to wash out some fruit fly larvae and throw the upper portions of my two Scoobies after 4 day absence ... cheese cloth ... sounds like a lot of job, since I am doing it every day, alternating the two Scoobies.
I have totally no cupboard space, so the brew is on my counter, which does not have lots of light on it. Dr Cassar, on the opposite, has it on his window in a huge container ... One day, when all these beans and seeds will be sprouted and cleared from the cupboard, I could try a slow brew in the darkness ...

Lili
