If I remember right you´ve been making Kombucha for quite some time... right?
If so, pl. let us know if this is OK. We´ve been given a Kombucha "Pilz" and have been looking after it now for a good 4 - 5 weeks. It was being fed black tea... we switched to organic green tea. On the very first attempt, it looked as if he/she had what we thought was a "baby"! A large mass had separated from the main pilz : the only difference was in the color. The main one was an off-white, like when we got it and the "new" off-shoot was almost black!!! Sometime later they re-joined. Good thing... we did´nt know if ours had gone "off" and was´nt sure at all if we should go ahead and drink it... which we eventually did! Once in a while there is this darkish, almost black mass - well not very big... Would you know what exactly this is? Excreta... that should be ditched? When exactly does one know that you have an off-shoot that can be given away for further use by someone else??
Any info that you have would be appreciated. Have tried googling but the few answers I read were not satisfactory.
THANKS !
