Re: update on my mom's emphysema
Wheezing sounds like asthma to me. If she has emphysema, then her lungs have lost elasticity and she will have trouble breathing, means panting rapidly to just walk across the room but not wheezing. If it is indeed emphysema, then trapper is right. Get her a portable oxygen converter to eliminate the panting. Emphysema & asthma at the same time? YEEKS!!
Wheezing & asthma. I suffer from this but fortunately only a few times a year. My asthma is exercise + air pollution induced. I am experimenting with an
Iodine inhaler. I have a 3 ounce misting bottle filled with distilled water and 10 drops of
Lugols 5% - When I start wheezing, I inhale the iodine/water mix and it seems to help. Not as good as the Ventolin inhaler, but it definitely helps. I'm experimenting with the number of drops to use which gets the best results. So far, I can say that 10 drops is better than 5 drops.
The mucous in the lungs is supposed to have
Iodine in it, so an iodine-water mix inhaled into the lungs is not a bad thing, not nearly as bad as the commercial inhalers. I agree with you, try to keep her off of the inhalers. Just look at the ingredients, all of them contain halide toxins.
If you find an optimal number of drops to use in the 3 ounce mister, let me know. It is MANY months between my tests.
Hope this helps,
