My father-in-law died from pneumonia after a long, painful and expensive battle. i have two pieces of advice. Have the doctors check for fungal infection before administering Antibiotics . Most pneumonia is caused by bacteria, but when it is caused by fungal infection, Antibiotics will make it worse. So play it safe and check first before agreeing to a course of treatment. My second piece of advice is instead of wringing your hands over how bad the situation is -- and yeah, it's pretty bad -- focus as much energy as you can on treating this guy the way you would want to be treated if you were the one who was sick. Let him know he is valued and respected. If he spends time in the hospital, visit him, talk to him. You'll never regret being there for this person when he needed support. Tweet
