Re: Elemental diet & candida? CFS/Dying Pt2
I went on a total elemental diet for 2 weeks (also Vivonex). I also had the candida/yeasty taste in my mouth. I was taking liquid Nystatin at the time which made me have HORRIBLE die-off but no improvement in my yeast symptoms. I think I was probably continually creating yeast, so it was continually dying off (and I was never getting better).
Side Note: I took Nystatin for a total of 2 months and all 2 months I had die off!
Unsurprisingly, I recently found out that I have heavy metals: Copper! I've been chelating for 4 or 5 months now. In the beginning, I was almost as sick as you. I could not eat, sit up, stand, walk, etc. I have been feeling MUCH better recently (after several months of feeling worse on chelation). I am able to function ALMOST like a normal person. I can go shopping and I can now eat a restricted/paleo diet without my stomach hurting.
I don't know what to tell you about the mercury fillings... It sucks because you know you need them out in order to get better but you can't seem to get stabilized. If you could just stabilize yourself, you could probably move forward.
The only thing I can recommend is some supplements that I have found helpful: Glutamine (I know this is in the Vivonex, but I take up to 2-4 grams extra). I have also found that a shake called InflammaCore by Ortho Molecular has helped me but it has some added
Sugar (for me... it didn't affect my candida and the banana flavor has the least sugar).
The last (and probably most important) thing I would recommend is nutritional IVs. When I was at my worse, I went to a doctor in Integrative Medicine who prescribed IVs. Nutritional IVs (which contain high levels of vitamin C among other things) were probably the one thing that helped me bounce back!
Also, have you looked into Glutathione injections? Can you take NAC? I am not sure if NAC or Glutathione is acceptable if you currently have mercury fillings, but it is the body's way of naturally detoxing mercury - so I would look into that if you haven't already. Some people have felt better, some have felt worse.
I hope this has been somewhat helpful?
