Re: Free Will
I think free will is overrated. :)
Not our will, but God's will matters and he is going to be sure his will get's done.
Psalm 115:3
3 Our God is in the heavens;
he does all that he pleases.
I really don't think free will is a gift at all. I could have a two year old with a free will to run into the streets in front of a fast moving truck. My will is going to be to grab that child up before he gets killed. His free will would be the end of him if he was allowed to carry it out.
It may be a teaching tool in lots of ways, as you said, but not a gift.
The natural man has no desire for God. He has free will to act in his Godless desires, but he is really not free at all, except to live in sin, but that is not freedom as we know it. It can't be a gift.
Free will is our downfall, our curse. In heaven, we won't have any ability to sin. We won't have free will to disobey God in any way. But that will be the most free we could ever be.
