I wanted to comment on freewill.
Freewill is not a gift that a christian is given to do whatever they want to do.....it is a learning tool. Free will is a gift that is used as a choice to either follow God's way of doing things or our way of doing things and thereby learning by cause and effect.
For a christian, due to hard life situations, it does seem that God's way may seem the hardest to follow sometimes. Many times we choose our own way of problem solving because we can't seem to find our own life situations in the bible. (even though it's there) Or our prayers seem to take too long to fix the problem right now.
The perfect example in the bible of someone using free will and choosing to not follow his Father's way, is the Prodigal Son. Luke 15:11-32 He chose his own way and negative results came about that caused him to seek the wisdom that his Father had originally given him. The Father had taught him...the seed was planted....a time of misery came upon him due to poor choices and the son remembered the wisdom of his Father and returned with repentance of heart. The Father celebrated because his son came home.
In other words....God Is In Control....but He does not force us to do the right things. He will allow our lives to seemingly be tossed to and fro, yet God is still there allowing and disallowing certain events to take place in one's life to help guide us to truth. Biblical example: Jonah being swallowed by the big fish because he didn't want to go to Nineveh. The belly of a fish is a place where deep thinking on the things of God and our own ways can take place. Right thinking came back to Jonah.... Jonah 1
Our love for Him...because He loved us first, is why we choose to follow His way and not our own. It's the correct and just way to live our lives.
His promise is to be with us and guide us in the right direction. He does allow free will to help us learn how to live His way if necessary.
