My father was a devout christian in his early 20's. Then one day he had an experience during a train ride. A golden light filled the air, and suddenly he recognized that his friend who was traveling along with him had his face- he recognized his friends face as his own. He also recognized in his friend the face of Christ. He realized that Christ was the essence of humanity, and we were all essentially individuated aspects of the same divinity.

He burst through the doors of his church that sunday to announce his profound discovery - that God is within us and we are all God- much to the disdain of the infuriated crowd. He said they looked like they wanted to kill him.

But it is not a new story. Jesus himself was challenged by the religious orthodox- today's orthodoxy just so happens to be Christianity and has lost almost all relevance to the truth Christ was trying to teach to others save for a few powerful messages like "the kingdom of Heaven is within" and "know the truth and the truth will set you free". His words have been lost and obfuscated through deliberate mistranslations and crucial omission of knowledge. Though the gnostic teachings still hold some semblance to the original teachings.

The fig tree obviously loves you and wants to be the center of not just your garden but your universe :)
