Iodine and Endometriosis

I have been reading with interest all of the posts about iodine.

My friend is giving her daughter Iodine for what she believes is endometriosis. I don't have a lot of details, other than the teenager has severe, severe cramping, though not the symptom of excessive bleeding. There has been no surgery.

Overall, her daughter is not doing well, but the Iodine has definitely helped with the menstrual issues. Her daughter is sluggish with no energy and not feeling well. She has a lot of heart palpitations.

Why does the Iodine help with the menstrual issues? It is mentioned in many, many places as helping endometriosis.

Could the iodine be causing a problem because of detoxing her too quickly? Or could it be stimulating her thyroid too much and exhausting her?

Thank you.
