14 Day Water Only Fast at TrueNorth in Santa Rosa
Hello,
I will be doing my first fast ever starting on Tuesday at the TrueNorth Clinic based on the recommendation from my doctor. In fact the day, the day I get back I have to go get labs done and see her.
I did some research into what to expect: muscle loss the first 2-3 days before the switch over to the fat stores; weakness; light headed; smelly
Body Odor /sweat; bad breath; pain & discomfort. I'm technically obese and have 43% body fat so not really worried about weight loss. While I do welcome it, it's not the reason behind the fast. I have so much going on that all that's doctors can see is that Something is happening that's causing a lot symptoms so the hope is that the fast will help cut down on the symptoms and make it easier to find a root cause. I'm ADHD but non-medicated as I usually can control the symptoms but haven't been able to lately which is why it was felt I would be better off going somewhere.
I started preparing yesterday for the fast by going vegan with no soy, processed foods, gluten, sugar/alcohol, or caffine; basically only water, unsweetened tea, fruits & vegetables. I had read a study on pubmed regarding the pre-fast diet and how it relates to the fast transition period. The more protein in your system the more discomfort is felt so I understand why it was recommended.
I am curious if anyone else has gone to the clinic and what they brought with them and what they did while they were there. I have a journal that I'm going to use to write down my thoughts & tribulations as I have been told it will be helpful.
