Re: First fast- Day 3- BM question
Hello flamingphoenix,
wateroflifes reply to your post is a very good one in my opinion.
The Bowels usually shut-down completely on a water-only-fast, so little to be concerned about on that score.

"Are you supposed to be excreting something from the fat being broken down"?
Well ketosis or fat-burning can produce symptoms of detox, as fat-deposits are where many toxins become stored, and where the usual symptoms are of this are bad-breath and body odour, but many toxins from fat-burning are just used as fuel for the body, with no symptoms per-se.
Drinking green-tea or anything else while fasting will greatly diminish detox, and why your symptoms of the shakes subsided after drinking it.
There is usually a greater loss of weight in the early days of fasting and the heavier you are, then the greater this loss of weight will be; this steadies down to about one pound per day thereafter.
The only thing that will consume greater muscle loss on a fast, than would otherwise be the case, is exercise, so I would refrain from that (Dr Alan Goldhamer).
As Chiron has said, consuming fluids other than water in the first few days can help overcome the initial detox symptoms, and help you to ease into the fast a little more easily, but water-only after this will be much more productive for healing and detox.
Metabolism is also lowered significantly on a fast in the bodys efforts to preserve its food reserves, so water-only fasting is considered by many to not be the most ideal way of losing weight if that is your main goal.
Take care
