Re: Niacin
I hope I'm on the right forum; I' tried to do a niacin flush with 500mg. and had very rapid heartbeat. I am extremely concerned about what happened.
Why do you want to do a niacin flush in the first place? Rapid heart rate is a common side effect. Personally, 50 mg of niacin will cause me the same symptoms or worse.
Some sites say that it is a side effect and then some say it's safe. I know I started with a high dosage but, that was all I can find locally.
You can break pills into 1/2 or 1/4 easily, a 500 mg dose can be broken into 250 and 125.
I am interested in doing it again but with a lower dosage cause I loved the feeling I got with it. Everything felt open and I loved the warmth it was awesome! I rode my bike after taking it, then came back and did some leg exercises, took some benonite then showered. I didn't have time to sit in the sauna. But, when I got back after riding my bike I checked my heart beats and it was 120 a min. Freaked me out! I also felt light headed. Throughout the day, I guess I was releasing too many toxins cause I started feeling my neck and shoulder area hurt and went into a light headache. I couldn't wait to go to sleep. I didn't even sleep well and woke up feeling sluggish and headachey. I am currently starting to feel better as I write this.
I was hoping to find out if anyone has experience about doing this detox, I have toxins stored in my fat cells and no matter what I do I cannot release them but, I don't want to have a heart attack! I also found a homeopathic combo that I will try if this doesn't work or if it is highly recommened that i not do niacin flush.
Any info is appreciated, thanks in advance.
Well, niacin foremost inhibits free fatty acid mobilization into the bloodstream by the liver, yet increases serum HDL by preventing the liver from uptaking it. It's a vasodilator, the small blood vessels near the skin open up more. The vasodilation is caused by the release of histamine by your cells. I have more available histamine and will flush on a small dose like 20 mg probably.
Check out the medical definition on histamine: http://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/histamine
Note the increase in heart rate, capillary dilation, smooth muscle contraction, gastric acid secretion, and some neurotransmitter release.
Why not try niacinamide instead of nicotinic acid (niacin), it has more beneficial effects than niacin alone?
