Live fast die young- Let me Un-confuse you
Hi Brittany,
First of all- I totally understand your being confused. Modern society actually encourages people to think your'e not having fun if you dont live in the fastlane.
Your friends are to be pitied. I dont judge them , because what are they supposed to think with what we are bombarded with on Television-MTV, Hollywood, etc.
What they have to remember is-- that even in Hollywood, there are alot of young celebrities that realize that if they want to keep their looks, delay plastic surgery, keep their brains alert, and their insides cleansed, that they even bow out of alot of parties and get into health cleanses , cut back on alcohol, lack of sleep, too much noise, etc.
First of all- your friends are young-- but fat cells increase in the body when you are younger and still are not suffering weight problems. Alcohol and refined sugars , starches all contribute to stuffing up the fat cells. Sooooo- when they are in their 20's, and 30's, they're going to be complaining that they cant' loose weight.
The only alcohol I allow myself is home-made wine because of the anti-oxidants and the lack of added chemical sulfites and chemical processing that is in every storebought liqour. And this is only in modest amounts, because too much alcohol acidifies the body's tissues and organs-- and it hurts the liver-- which slows down your metabolism too much.
Even Beer will fatten your fat cells- The chemicals used in beer processing (unless you get a really expensive all natural beer) also go right into your blood stream by the alcohol in the beer.
Some of your friends all smoke too- no doubt. Smoking may temporarily keep their metabolism up --and keep them a size 2-4- but when they are in their 20's and 30's, they will have alot of lines on their faces (even if they never went into the Sun) and their skin will sag and have a roughness about it.
I used to hear this alot--but now I see my friends from highschool- and even people YOUNGER than me!-- and they look 10 years older than me.
I'm 42 years old and never smoked or got drunk a day in my life (except for once when I got a buzz from drinking some raspberry shots at a Christmas party..lol) and never experienced a hangover.
I don't mean to brag- but it has made a difference in my appearance.
Not becaues Im super beautiful--but because I just enjoyed my life-- excersized, ate alot of veggies and fruits, got a decent sleep and stayed away from what the Media says is "Fast Living". To me Fast Living should be taking hikes, Getting out into the Sun or Snow, getting into outside adventures-- Exploring, and shopping once in a while for relaxation and enjoying how nice the clothes look on your healthy body that isnt sagging or bulging 10 years later from all that type of "fast living" your friends think is "cool".
Put the time machine ahead a few generations and you'll still look and feel "HOT"! in your 50's and 60's., while your stubborn friends who didnt listen to you will be on all sorts of perscription meds and draining their finances to the drug industry.
Then in your 70's and 80's, you'll still be able to hike and bike and just do what you want with the same independence you had when younger while your friends are stuck in a nursing home and feel like they'e in prison.
Soo- hope that un-confuses ya a little!
Happy to be 42!
