Re: Help! My pet rabbit has pneumonia. Days are numbered...
Hello Perry,
Keep in mind that the kidneys have to process all the chemicals you add. If the rabbits kidneys are shutting down you have to go slow.
The problem is finding the balance between overloading the kidneys and doing some good.
I think the 24 drop concentration in 1 liter of water is too high. I would suggest you put 1 drop in 8
ounces and try to get the rabbit to take that as normal hydration. This will keep the rabbit hydrated and there will be some chlorite added to help.
However, while this will help with the kidneys and other ailments, it isn't real effective with pneumonia. Chlorine dioxide gas can help, but once again you are on a very fine balance. Too much will kill the rabbit, so you have to keep the concentration very low. A good starting place with this is to take a dish and put 4
ounces of water in it. To that add 4 drops of
Miracle-Mineral-Supplement and 1 drop of 50%
citric acid . Just put this dish into the cage with the rabbit.
Chlorine dioxide is heaver than air so the gas will settle on the floor of the cage and hopefully the rabbit will breathe some in.
You shouldn't be able to smell any odor, but if you do the concentration is too high. This dish needs to be changed daily.
Hydration is very important, but you don't want to overload the kidneys.
Good luck.
Tom
