...... and by the way - the communists in some countries (you really need to differentiate, if that´s possible) made sure that there were a lot of possibilities for poor citizens to take part in society. One example: a brainy but poor student was allowed into the top universities to complete his studies. Many middle class and poor folk in the former DDR (East Germany) and Soviet Union would give alot to bring back the "good ole days" when they were looked after.
