I believe the purpose of germinating brown rice is to boost its nutritional profile, while also improving digestibility. Do you have a source that indicated GBR to be more alkaline than brown rice?
Also, are you germinating the rice yourself, or buying it pre-germinated?
I buy GBR (called 'hatsuga genmai' over here) - it has a lovely nutty smell when poured out of the bag into my rice jar.
