L-lysine certainly appears good
Quite interesting.
Around Sunday the 8th I felt I might be getting a cold sore and started taking a little lysine that my girlfriend had gotten me. Indeed, by Wednesday it became evident the cold sore was happening, so I upped my dosage, getting about 3.5g daily in the form of 7 capsules.
It appears to have dramatically reduced the extent of the cold sore and expedited the healing process. Which is great because they make me feel really gross.
And, though I hadn't made the connection, I'd been noticing that I have been feeling less anxious lately. And better able to speak, to choose the right words, to think more clearly and in depth. This correlates with my using lysine as far as I can tell.
(This failure of noticing the correlation suggests that complex illness sufferers like ourselves need a system to help us see what's doing what.)
L-lysine seems to be having really good effect at least in a couple ways. I hope others here try it out and report on their experience.
