Discolored teeth from oil pulling

A friend and I have been oil pulling for a few weeks now and we are both seeing some discoloration of our teeth.

I didn't pay much attention until she mentioned it. Mine is just around the top of the teeth...looks like what coffee stains would be....don't drink coffee....nothing else is different for either of us. I'm using coconut oil.

Here is what she said:I had done some oil pulling at the beginning of the year with safflower oil
but noticed my teeth turning a strange color so I stopped after a few weeks.
I resumed about a month ago, this time with coconut oil. I've recently
noticed the same thing occurring. My front teeth (top and bottom) look like
they're stained on the inside. It's kind of a gray mottled look or
marbling. The teeth have a sort of transparent look in spots.

Any ideas what we're both noticing? Neither of us are skeptics. We want to continue but would have preferred to get the tooth whitening effect like most others rather then this. Neither of us are treating anything either, just doing it to stay healthy.

Thanks for your replies.
