Re: cushing's disease and fasting
Summer120,
as you are probably aware but for the benefit of other members cushings disease is a result of the pituitary gland releasing too much adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).
The pituitary gland is an organ of the endocrine system where a tumor or excessive growth (hyperplasia) of this gland gland results in cushings disease.
The endocrine system is reliant on symbiosis or the interdependency of each organ and gland upon the other, so any malfunction of the pituitary is usually symptomatic of malfunctioning of the organs elsewhere in the body.
Water-only-fasting-according-to-thirst will allow your body to self-heal the endocrine system, as it will with any other organ of the body: pure blood and normal nerve force, means that gland function will be, or return to normal, but this will also depend on your mode of living post-fast and especially with reference to diet.
The conduct of the fast will be paramount in that you conduct it with as much rest as possible, with freedom from stress and anxiety.
I wish you well.
