Re: ALA 100mg every 3 hours or 4?
Again, I really doubt that ALA *directly* impacts thyroid.
Cutler explains in his writings that selenium binds rather tightly with Hg, thus keeping it from causing problems. Therefore in a person who has exposure to Hg, it would not be surprising if the person has less than optimal levels of Se for conversion of T4 to he active T3. cf noamalgam.com
Cutler recommends that people take some Se as a part of their supplement support. I seem to need more of it while I'm chelating. The chelators are kicking up (mobilizing) Hg as a part of the chelation process and I assume additional Se is being used up while on round.
These relatively little things are why it is so valuable to have someone such as Cutler available as a resource. With his PhD in chemistry, 15 yrs of study of Hg and HMs, along with his own experience with Hg related illness he has both knowledge and experience. Btw he had low thyroid symptoms but had a devil of a time getting his doctor to prescribe meds.
Everythingspectrum.com and the folks who post our hair tests have small dose caps.

Unless you are not very sick, especially with adrenal symptoms, you will almost certainly not have a nice experience on 50mg ALA. 12mg is rather common dose in the early months of ALA, however that is usually after a couple of months of DMSA only to clear the blood.
Good luck.
