When I began to learn about this syndrome, I was convinced the overgrowth occur more often in the small bowel. I have to accept I was wrong. It has been a long journey to learn that the fungal colonies concentrate in the low part more than any other part of the intestines. They can growth everywhere but the big concentration is in the colon. The reason because you have bad digestion doesn't mean the concentration is there but it is the result of having a colon infection. The flora is in the colon, no in the small bowel. The fuel of intestinal c ells is produced in the colon (butyric acid, lactic acid, etc)
Clean the colon and the upper part will get normal by itself.
Anyway, I favor the treatment both way, and I said that. I take antifungal orally and follow the diet. But, without the antifungal enemas, this progress wasn't possible. It is all to you if you want to get well.
Jorge.
