Re: 40 Day Lent Water Fast. Day 3.
Avoiding the scale in hopes of having another great weigh-in tomorrow and motivation boost since Day 3 is always the most difficult transition from normal eating--lengthy fasting.
Random thoughts:
Catch 22 A. of fasting: Either one rests, increasing levels of boredom and desire to eat; or one engages in activity and increases fatigue and desire to eat for more energy.
Catch 22 B. of fasting: One remains in isolation, so as to not be subjected to the demands and temptations of others engaging in normal routines and eating, yet lacks accountability and relies purely on (previously admitted lack of) self-control; or, one continues to be social, increasing stress, temptation and peer pressure to eat.
Both come down to a battle between mind and flesh. Positive self-talk and support from those around us is key. Avoid people who think fasting is dangerous or a bad idea, or those who love food as much as you usually do, or really good cooks. This is basically everyone in my life, so I keep telling myself how great it will be to see their reactions when I come out of my 'hole' after 40 days noticeably healthier. Success is the best revenge.
