chickweed

Chickweed is a common weed in some places. Fresh chickweed can be collected and put in a jar with olive oil. This can be left for some time (for example two months) for the active constituents from the chickweed to come out into the olive oil. This oil, infused with chickweed, can then be applied to the skin to prevent itching.

To do this, you need to live in a place where chickweed grows, and you need to be able to identify it. There is also another weed which looks very similar.

Another option is to purchase a chickweed cream or ointment, and apply this to stop the itching. Some chickweed products may be more effective than others.

Understand that this is treating the symptoms (the itching). While it is beneficial for temporary relief, it is important to treat the eczema.
