Re: NOTHING is helping my eczema HELP ME

Hi

I am sorry to hear about your struggle with eczema, as I can relate having had eczema my self. I see you ave tried doing many different things, and you ahve had no results from them.

The key to controlling eczema is to do your own detective work to find out what your unique triggers are. This is important because there are mnay things that can contribute to the development of eczema, so just avoiding what the literature tells you is a good thing to avoid if you want to get rid of your eczema is not necessarily going to work for you. You must find out what yor specific triggers are, and then once these are identified do your best to avoid them.

You seem to already know a lot about the causes of eczema, and so you appreciate how many there are. What you need to do is to keep an eczema diary. In this diary you should record daily the state of your skin, and all the things you were exposed to. You should also remember to record stress, and significant occurances in your life. Even good significant events such as getting a new job, or getting married produces stress.

After a few months of keeping a record of the severity of your skin condition and your many exposures, you should see a pattern developing of the periods when your eczema gets worse. You should also see what exposures are most common around the time that your eczema gets worse.

Chances are that these are your specific triggers. Next you should eliminate as much as practical one suspected trigger at a time for a few weeks and see if there is any improvement in your eczema. If there is no change youa should add tha suspected trigger back into your list of exposed to things, and remove another possible trigger.Repeat the process until you have identified the most likely triggers.

One of the things that may be useful for you, since you have a twin who does not suffer with this condition, is to observe what exposures you are having that your twin does not have. Remember things such as toiletries.

It may also be helpful to think back to the time when you first developed eczema to see if you can remember what was happening around the time. Was there some stresful situation,or other exposure.

To get some relief from the discomfort in the short term. You can use a anti-histamine, especcially around the time when you are most likely to itch.

Try to generally keep your skin moisturised from the inside out by drinking plenty of water. Try having your baths in filered water with a mild non-soap based gel. Apply Extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil to the skin as this is an excellent moisturiser, and in my own experience I have seen it clear up my eczema patches.

Above all, be very patient with yourself so that you can reduce your stress levels. You need to be dilligent in doing your detective work to identify your triggers, but do not let it become a source of stress. Also think positively.
These things have helped me control my eczema.
