I have taken classes for people with COPD and every one in the class was
either a present time smoker - or, as I was, a former smoker. If your mom
is a smoker, please have her quit. If she doesn't do that, nothing will
help.
Parsed lip breathing is what was taught in my COPD classes and HOW to breathe
was as well. You breathe out just before physical effort (such as standing
from a sitting position or lifting something heavy) just the opposite of what
most people really do. By measuring the amount of oxygen in the blood
stream one will find that it helps a lot.
