I don't use DMSA much now. I usually use ALA or cilantro/chlorella.
When I took DMSA before, I started with 100 MG every 4 hours (including at night) because it was the cheapest way I could get it. I then found 25 MG capsules and began taking 75 MG. It sounds like a lot, but I didn't have huge problems using it at those doses. I should note that by the time I began using DMSA, I had been using cilantro/chlorella for more than 6 months and had reduced my mercury load by a fair amount already. That could have made a difference in my reaction to the DMSA.
I suppose you could open up the 25 MG capsule and pour half into something and take it that way. DMSA tastes disgusting, so I'm not sure I would want to take it outside of it's capsule. Swallow it as quickly as possible if you do.
Typically recommended additional supplements include vitamins C and E, selenium and zinc. There are other possibilities too. It depends on who you listen to. I usually take a multivitamin plus additional vitamin C before I begin chelating. Find ways to boost your body's glutathione production (foods like avocado and asparagus are good but skip the oral supplement). Drink lots of water and go to the bathroom as much as possible while you chelate. Go to a sauna regularly (or find a way to make yourself sweat and then shower off afterwards).
I'm afraid I don't know anything about modifilan, so I can't comment.
