I think the key here is moderation and as newport pointed out an intake of carbs over 80 grams can be a problem. The key point to the article was the role carbs play in energy production and the body's response to not getting ANY carbs being a drop in thyroid hormone to conserve available glucose.
I suspect many including myself came to this board seeking answers to low thyroid issues which lack of Iodine is a major part. My guess is likely that the lack of moderation on your part over carbs may play a role in why you are here seeking answers. There are always many parts to the puzzle.
