Parasite Programming

I've been wondering about something for awhile.

We have all read that parasites can live undetected in the human body for years. They are programmed to live under the radar. Obviously something has to trigger these parasites to "awaken" them.

So my question is, once these parasites are awakened, does that mean their life span is near an end? It seems to me that once they make their presence known, their blissful existence is threatened so why ruin a good thing?

Obviously they can still live quite awhile as we try to kill them off but it seems counterproductive to their intent to inhabit the human body without assault.

I suppose there are some parasites which are active immediately, but even that seems suicidal because humans are going to try and kill them out.

I would appreciate any opinions or insight on this.
