Re: Expression of NIS markedly decreased or absent in stomach cancer, etc.
I wonder why these stomach cancer patients had fewer NIS symporters???
Dr. Sabastiano Venturi would be one to address in his work. He would probably speculate on it being some sort of adaptation mechanism by the stomach to redirect the
Iodine to the thyroid or breast that backfired. Is anybody familiar with his work?
Also, the introduction to this article said something about Graves Disease. What did I miss there?
In
Breast Cancer patients, they have found more NIS symporters. Since more NIS are associted with
Breast Cancer the geniuses at Albert Einstein Medical School are experimenting with trying to DESTROY the symporters.
It never occured to them that the
Breast Cancer patients may be making more symporters in order to compensate for local
Iodine deficiency--in order to redirect
Iodine to the breasts. Destroying the symporters is like blocking the roads to the forest fire.
Geez, I love this stuff. Good find, Wommie!
