Re: The Remarkable Anticancer Properties of Vitamin K

Chrisb1 and Chiron,

You are both right and your comments are well placed. It is always much better to prevent but when prevention has not been present, the job of the cure is to target the problem.

Cancer as well as many other health problems, is the result of the weakest link, nutritionally speaking. In order to overcome this broken nutritional link, it is necessary to force it in amounts that are not present in nutritional sources.

Vitamin K, Vitamin D, and Niacin ( B3 ) are all critical in avoiding the degeneration of aging which results in things such as cancer and coronary disease. These vitamins do not work alone but in synergy with other vitamins, minerals, and other natural substances that should be obtained through our diet. Some substances, such as B-17, used to be a part of our diet and while not considered to be essential, are often excluded by todays processed foods.

Anyone who has enjoyed the benefit of fresh eggs from free range chickens certainly knows the difference between the pale yellow yolks of store bought eggs and those fresh from the yard.

There is a tremendous difference between the wild caught salmon of Alaska and the pale stuff raised in the farm cages in the Atlantic.

Here in the south, we know the blessing that comes from collards and other dark greens picked fresh from our gardens.

Even milk, which is frequently reviled as bad, when obtained fresh from an Amish farm has a taste that is not found in the modified stuff found on the grocery store shelves. It is also rare to hear of either Amish farm children or other farm children having the problems associated with store bought milk.

Eat natural, but eat well, supplement with the things that we can not get in the amounts that we really need such as Iodine and niacin ( B3 ). Get lots of sunshine. Did you know that one of the few professions that have sufficient vitamin D is roofers that work in the southern parts of the US?

By the same token, avoid the foods that are not really good for us. We do not need a lot of the starchy foods that are pushed on us as being nutritious. These are things such as wheat flour products, potatos, and white rice.

Possibly, the very healthiest thing to eat for breakfast is berries. blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, among others. In addition to vitamins and antioxidants, there are other important nutritional substances that have important effects on slowing the aging process.
