I believe this is so because I fought candida to no avail for years. Cannot even count how much money I spent on yeast medicines. As soon as I got off them, the yeast came back. But when I started addressing the underlying diseases and over all health, the candida significantly diminished on it's own. The thing that seemed to make the biggest difference was taking Iodine. My over all health improved, as well, not just the yeast infections. As long as I take plenty of it, my tongue is pretty and pink. Of course my taking Iodine corresponded with menopause, and my hormones also changed. So if hormones were causing the yeast, then maybe it would have gone away some by itself. But the fact remains my tongue still turns white if I drink milk or eat sugar, regardless of my hormone status, unless I take the Iodine. And lets not forget that Iodine affects hormones too... It is complicated, but I believe there is a relationship.
