i was reading through old posts on how to make my own tinctures trying to get ready for this flu season, anyhow...i kept reading more and more on tincturing and how to press the juices out of it...and i searched online for how much it would cost on herb/tincture press...wow expensive...so the method of pressing is extracting the juices out of the herb same as a juicer would do...so i have this model http://www.877myjuicer.com/ViewProduct/HealthyJuicer-ManualWheatgrassJuicerby...

for my wheatgrass juicing...and its basically just wring the juices from the fruits and has a strainer that catches the pulp, so i wonder if this would work for pressing the herb, its only $50

Yes, you can use ANY type of a juicer to help press tinctures. However, there will be a LOT of sediment in the tincture. Generally those that use a juicer to press their tincture, also do something to remove the sediment (like running/pressing it through the corner of an organic cotton pillowcase).

When I make tinctures, I always macerate the dried herbs after they've soaked in the alcohol for a few days (to the consistency of applesauce...so that ALL the herbal goodies are exposed to the menstruum/alcohol). When I tried my Omega 8005 as a 'press', it separated VERY little pulp (and I had to repress the majority through cloth).

'Sorry for the vast delay in response time.

Blessings,

I believe that what is causing your tincture to be cloudy is just the way it strained through the pillow case Just, some sediment, so you should be able to restrain it or not. I know somewhere Uny talked about cloudy tincture, but I don't have much time this morning to search for it. A tincture press is the best way to get clear tincture.

I hope this information is helpful.
