Misunderstood concepts about earthing.

There are a few things I should point out about earthing because of many misunderstandings about how this works. First of all earthing works or should I say would work if you were say in the middle of the woods and grounded yourself. Or better yet if you lived in a home with no external ac power lines coming into it. Walking barefoot away from powerlines is a good method for earthing that works. But in your modern home there is a problem with this. First of all there is an AC magnetic field of 60 hz within and around your home. This is caused by the power lines coming into your home which also are at 60 hz. This means anything within your home,,be it a wire,,metal or anything conductive will also be at 60 hz. What is 60 hz for those that dont know? Its an oscillating magnetic field that causes forward then reverse current flow which is oscillating at 60 (hz) times a second. So you see by just running a wire to the earth and then bringing it into your home, once it enters your home it too will oscillate at the 60 hz. The wire acts like an antenna which then naturally oscillates,,picking up the 60 hz magnetic field. So if we have an earthed wire running from our bodies to earth,,which is also oscillating at 60 hz, this means there is a push and pull effect going on in the wire. That makes electrons flow one way then they are forced to reverse. To better understand it imagine it like this. Electrons are flowing from the earth up the wire going to your body, on one half of the oscillating field wave, but then it gets reversed since its oscillating and then electrons are forced from your body through the wire into the earth. This would be happening 60 times a second (hz). The only way to force electrons to only flow in one direction is with a diode. Thats how a transformer turns oscillating 60 hz ac into dc on the secondary of the transformer,,by using a diode. So place the diode between yourself and the ground or earthed wire,,with the polarity of the diode allowing electron flow to only travel from the earth into you. Then it does not matter if the wire oscillates,,electron flow can only flow into you,,through the diode!!!!!!! Tweet
