28 mls is the same as 0.95
ounces (or really 1 ounce, to round up), assuming you're measuring volumes of water, which has a density of 1. Since the stones are made of bile/lipids, their density is less than 1, meaning that they float. Therefore the weight of 28 mls of stones might actually be significantly less than 0.95 ounces.
I'm not trying to make a big deal out of this, but in general, an ounce is a unit of weight while a milliliter is a unit of volume. Weight and volume are interchangable ONLY if you are talking about water, and most aqueous solutions. I choose to work with volumes because I remember Telman once making some comments about the volume of the liver versus the volume of stones he has expelled, at some point.
Instead, if I were to WEIGH the stones, it would mean that I'd actually have to retrieve them from the toilet and put them on a sensitive scale, and I just don't really have the interest or resources to do that.....
