despite your bowels being completely empty, there is still food matter within your intestines, and this is most likely the cause of your problems. Just because your bowels are empty, does not mean that your digestive tract is as well.
Gas is caused by fermenting and puterfying foodstuffs within the digestive system as a whole, and where the two major causes of this are either eating foods that do not combine very well, and/or eating when not hungry because it just happens to be meal time.
For example, a protein/starch combination at the same meal is renowned for causing gas/flatulence.
I think you will discover that if you do combine your foods correctly and eat only when hungry, this will solve your problem.
Food combining principles have been used for decades in the elimination of such digestive disorders/diseases as Crohns and IBS.
