Re: Do I Dare?
It is a sad irony that, on top of being as sick as we are, almost all of us have to deal with skeptical family/friends/coworkers/medical professionals who think we are 'imagining' our health problems or making them up. I have never complained about being sick in my life until last year, but now I unfortunately know what it's like to be viewed as a 'hypochondriac.'
My advice to you regarding the heavy metals would be to forget about trying to get a 'diagnosis' from a conventional doctor. Also, there are serious disagreements about the accuracy of different heavy metal tests (e.g., hair, urine provocation). Therefore, assuming you have no dental mercury or have already had it removed, I would advise you to simply go forward with a reliable chelation program (e.g., Cutler Protocol) and see how you feel. If, a few months into the DMSA/DMPS and ALA you feel no different whatsoever during and between rounds, to me that would be a fair indication that heavy metals may not be your problem. On the other hand, if weird things start happening to you throughout chelation (as happen to most people with metal toxicity), then you will know that metals are indeed part of your problem. Worse case scenario, you will be out a relatively small amount of cash to pay for the DMSA/DMPS (ALA is super cheap).
