Re: Fungal infection in ear. Any thoughts Hveragerthi?

Have you looked into ear candling?

Candling is pretty controversial.  I used them for a while, especially for getting water out from my ear when it got stuck in the canal after scuba diving.  But there is a big question as to what the wax and the powdery residue really are.  General claims state that it is ear wax and the powdery residue is fungus.  I tried an experiment a few times though where I burnt candles with the small end in some sand and not someone's ear.  I got the same wax and powdery residue as when using the candles in someone's ear.  They do seem to make the ears feel better and appear to be doing something beneficial, but whether or not they are removing actual ear wax and fungi is yet to be seen.
