Re: No Help from Docs.
I won't even mention here my less than satisfactory experience with doctors in regards to my pancreatitis. Let's simply say I understand completely; However, at least they were able to diagnose you. During 7 ER visits (late 1970's) all the doc's did was a blood draw while on one visit a blood draw and shot of demerol (which didn't help at all) and then look at me like a bull with a bastard calf with no idea what to do next.
I finally met ONE really intelligent doctor who diagnosed me with pancreatitis.
He gave me 3 prescriptions, told me to limit my fat intake, abstain from alcohol and then informed me I may have approximately 10 years of future. That was 32 years ago.
Shortly after he diagnosed me he left for greener pastures and I was again at the mercy of the average doctor who couldn't diagnose strep throat without a culture.
I did not like the idea of living with pain due to chronic pancreatitis, the possibilty of complications and the thought of dying so out of desperation I was forced to do my own research and find a way to survive.
I learned how to stop an acute attack, avoid more damage and lesson the acute episodes.
I also learned how to become essentially pain free for over 16 years now.
