For red inflamed, possibly infected skin..I use ichthammol ointment (aka black drawing salve) to which I've added a drop or two of oreganol oil. I've used it on my daughter's infected thumb (tore off a hang nail) and more recently a blistered heal that wouldn't heal.

I used to buy the tubes of ichthammol, but I just recently bought a tub of it at an equine supply site. It should last me forever! I also recently bought NOW pure steam distilled oregano oil -- pure stuff, not diluted in olive oil. I used that to make up a small batch of my oregano drawing salve. It works pretty good. Tweet
