Re: can I swear on here, becuz if i can...

I'm 40. And yes was on birth control for many years. I think the Depo shot did a number on me years ago. I haven't been on any bc for about 8 yrs. This past February the doc put me on a low dose hormone. They kept thinking my hormones were out of wack and I was depressed. I took the hormones for 2 wks and was very ill. When I quit them I was somewhat better but then the Zoloft went burzurk. My cycle is now messed up. Mine came at a regular time, but was just getting lighter and shorter. Now who knows when it will show up?
This is just my understanding of what's goin on from talking to Dr. Lam and reading as much as I can. When the adrenals aren't functioning properly, none of the other hormones do either. And I was at a stage where meds do not function in me like they normally would. It's called a paradox somethin or other. Can't think of it right now. His thing was that I have to heal my adrenals which may very well get my other hormones working properly as well. This also may get the thyroid working properly as well. You should check out Dr. Lam's web site and he explains this pretty well. You can also ask him a question on his site and he will answer pretty quickly. Very interesting stuff.
I did have my thyroid tested but was just a basic test. I kept thinking it was my hormones or thyroid but the doctors would just do basic blood work. I had everything in a "normal" range. Dr. Lam also explains that with adrenal dysfunction, blood work can show up normal. But with woman, the adrenals cause the overies and thyroid to malfunction.
I, personally, am not going back to another doctor. They treated me like I was a mental patient and were just horrible. Then after the experience with the Zoloft, I fear all meds. I am trying to heal with the help of suppliments and herbs. I can say I am much better. About 85 to 90% myself. Not quite there yet. The different herbs are fascinating. I have been looking at Dr. Schulze 's herbal remedies and he has something for female hormones. I am planning on trying that. I trust the herbs more than meds but they need to be the right ones and prepared correctly. I will let you know how that goes.
And I want to say WOW at being 56 and having a 4 yr old! LOL I thought I was pushing it at 40. My husband which is 7 yrs younger than me acts like he wants another child sometimes and I flip out! Our oldest is 19.
Another thing, I am no way a health guru and never really took care of myself before. I have always cooked good meals but never thought about organic foods or how unhealthy just about all store bought food is. I took vitamins every now and then but never put thought into that either. I assumed vitamins were good for you. I have been living a very stressful life as far as my job goes as well. I say this because I am now a believer in nurishing the body correctly, paying attention to the right vitamins and taking herbs. I laughed at people like that. I am getting better and have not experienced a crash yet. I also eat good fatty meat and it helps tremendously. We need fats. Lots of kiwi and strawberries and yogurt. Broccoli has been a friend too.
