It depends how much zinc is in your diet. I am a vegetarian, and vegetarians are typically deficient in zinc, so I take 30 mg a day of zinc supplements. If someone eats plenty of meat though, then 30 mg a day of zinc supplements is probably too much, and 10-15 mg may be a better idea. Some people are already copper deficient even before taking excessive zinc.
