Stay away from the zinc! I bought a childrens brand of zinc lozenges to try. It had only 8 mgs of zinc per lozenge. I took 2 a day for about 2 days. I became extremely ill, and had symptoms of low cortisol. If I had not caught this early I would have had a major setback. Zinc really is so important for our health but if your cortisol is already low, you really should not risk it.

It depends how much zinc is in your diet. I am a vegetarian, and vegetarians are typically deficient in zinc, so I take 30 mg a day of zinc supplements. If someone eats plenty of meat though, then 30 mg a day of zinc supplements is probably too much, and 10-15 mg may be a better idea. Some people are already copper deficient even before taking excessive zinc.
