I suffer from gastric paresis. Have been for many years. I don’t believe that there is a cure for it but then there are many things one can do to reduce the pain and discomfort.
The cause of my gastric paresis is Diabetes type 2. This disease causes a weakening of the lower stomach muscle which pushes the macerated food out of the stomach into the small intestines (this is simplifying it greatly). This macerated food lays and lays in your stomach for several hours causing pain from too much acid and very often too much gas. I find it intolerable. This is usually caused by my eating too much at one meal. I try to eat smaller meals and oftener. Basically I eat 5 meals a day.
If this condition happens I take 2 tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar in half a glass of water. Then I wait for five/ten minutes and take a half a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda). The initial dose of ACV causes the sphincter at the top of the stomach to close tightly and the baking soda reacts with the acid to produce CO2 gas which pushes the food out of the stomach. This has worked for me for quite a few years.
My diabetes has become “inactive” the last four years, thank goodness, and I have had less and less problems with my gastric paresis. I will be happy to answer any question you may have.
